Stats and Snapshots

Seth had his four month checkup today at which Ian got to piggyback and get a shot and a flu mist vaccine. (He was surprisingly brave and well-behaved, so he got an ice cream treat this afternoon.) Seth checks out to be normal, so no news to report there. He also got his fair share of shots. We met a new pediatrician today, and he seemed very nice (same office, new guy). So, here are the stats on the boys for Seth at age four months and Ian at age 2 1/2.

Ian is 36 3/4 inches tall, so just over three feet. He weighs 32 lbs. Since it wasn't his well visit, and we won't have one of those until age 3, we didn't get any growth curve stats on him.

Seth is 24.5 inches long, weighs 14 lbs. 14 oz., and his head circumference was 17 inches. This puts him at the 50th percentile for all those measurements, so he's a pretty normal and average kinda guy!

So, as I've had a chance to catch some pics of Seth wearing similar outfits or striking similar poses at similar ages as Ian, I'd thought you'd like to see how our brothers are turning out as far as resemblance goes. The first pic in these series will always be of Ian, but I'll include the date and age above each photo.

Alma Mater

We're headed back for a short visit to our college town and "home" for ten years. I still have work clients there, so I need to drop in and say, "Hi, remember me... I work for you." We have friends who haven't met our littlest, Seth, who will be four months old tomorrow. And John will be giving a presentation at Baylor on Saturday. They are having a Python (programming language) conference there.

I think that's pretty darn cool, actually... for John to be working in the industry with his quasi-computer-science degree from BU, and then he gets to go back and talk to students who are in the same position he was ten years ago. Because now that we're removed from our education somewhat and have been "using" it (or not) the past several years in the workplace, we actually know something that would be informative and beneficial to students in our respective fields! And that is John's goal... to give those attending his presentation a glimpse into "real world" computer programming and introduce them to practical tools that they may not learn about otherwise.

I, too, will be visiting Baylor on Friday to make a brief "work related" errand. I do about one graphic design project per quarter for them, and right now I am working on a newsletter for the geology department. The science building is so big, and the parking situation is so bad... I have a little bit of anxiety about toting my two boys there. Alas, what's a work-from-home mom to do?

Speaking of the boys, they are doing well these days... except for the sleep department. But otherwise, Ian is talking, talking, talking and Seth is smiling, smiling, smiling. But I sure wish we were all sleeping, sleeping, SLEEPING! The short of it is, between the two of them, I am usually up four times a night. And if one of them magically sleeps well, the other one doesn't. And if they both sleep well, then I don't because I'm either anticipating their wake-ups or for some other reason (like a tummy ache I had last week). Needless to say, I am exhausted and should end this post and go to bed!

But not before I post some pics. In line with our upcoming Baylor visit, here is my cutie in his BU gear (thanks to my college roomie, Angela, for the fun onesie and socks). I just realized that Ian doesn't have a Baylor shirt in his size, so maybe we'll have to stop in and get him one!

And I guess the photo shoot wore him out, because this is how I found him later that day. He's a bear-lover, that's for sure!

New House

I'm new to using Picasa, but I think you can just click on the photo below to access the album with pictures of our new house. Pics of Ian's room are missing from this batch because I already blogged about it here.

Well, we still have a handful of boxes left to be completely unpacked, but I've loved how everything has turned out! A few weekends ago, John's parents came to help with all kinds of projects from unpacking, hanging pictures, window treatments, plumbing, yardwork, painting... not to mention getting in some good grandparent time. We were SO thankful for their help! Enjoy the tour!

To Sleep or Play...

That is the question!

Follow-Up

As a follow-up to the previous post, Ian is often telling us the stuff he's going to do when he gets bigger. He seems to want to get bigger real bad. Here are a few things:

"I had to get bigger and then I can use daddy's weeder, and it makes a big noise!"

"I had to get bigger to touch the light (lamp post). It's WAY up high! I can't reach it!"

"I had to get bigger to sit there and reach the pedals and drive the car!" To which I responded that he had to be at least 15 years old to drive. So we then counted to 15 together. And then he exclaimed, "I'm TWO YEARS OLD!"

Seth @ Three Months

With my beloved family photographer, Lydia, now living 10 hours away, I've sought out a new photographer to capture the 3-6-9-12 month series for Seth like we did for Ian. We had our 3-month session at her house last week, and admittedly, it was a little crazy. Ian fit right into the mix with the three other boys who lived there (the youngest of which is his age). Seth was seemingly a little overwhelmed by everything, but I think we got some good shots nonetheless.
