The rest to go! Well, you can sort of count the kitchen as being done. Everything is unpacked and in a place somewhere. I'd like to clear off the counters some more, but the kitchen seems to be grand central station where everything tends to collect. Anyway, the real reason for this post is to show you Ian's room! So, as you enter the door...
A good view of the bed, curtains, toy box...
A toy bin full of toys... and Aunt Lydia painted the painting! It's been in John's office, above the mantel at the last place, and now in a special place in Ian's room!
Great Grandma Larget made these wonderful curtains and valance. The fabric is vintage transportation which is the general theme of the room.
Heirloom toys! The wooden train was John's as a child, and the rocking chair was mine.
Ian's dresser... no changing table in this room, but nope, he's not potty training, yet. Soon, very soon.

What to Do When You're Two...
Two-and-half years old... and two-and-a-half months old. That's my boys. And here's an update on them.
Let's start with Seth. He's a great baby. His smiles are huge, take over his whole face, and melt his mama's heart. He sleeps great... for example, a few nights last week, his middle-of-the-night feed was between 4 and 5 a.m. and then he went back to sleep until 8. That was after going to bed around 9:30 p.m. This week his trend has been going to bed around 8:30, wake up at 2:30 to eat, and back to sleep until 8 a.m. This is a schedule I can handle!
Little man is still not crazy about the car. If he's awake, he's usually crying. On a recent road trip, I pulled over to try and assess his problem. I think he was just lonely because when I got back there, he stopped fussing and gave me this huge grin. He also insisted on diaper changes during said road trip. He's not content to sit in his own poo for very long. (Understandable, I suppose, just different from his brother.)
Seth usually stays awake most of the morning (which is when we're busy keeping his brother entertained), takes a super long afternoon nap, and then stays awake again in the evening. I guess that's his "schedule." I haven't been strict about putting him on any kind of schedule mainly because life has been crazy lately with the move, and he's proven to be so easy-going, so I'm not too worried.
Although he has never been excessively fussy, he has been what I would describe as "unsettled" especially during his feedings. He's been on an antacid for a couple of weeks, and I have noticed a difference. It's not a cheap medicine, so I took him off for a few days just to see what happens. Well, his symptoms came back, so I will pay the money to get my boy some comfort.
On Saturday, July 9, he rolled over from front to back a few times. He hasn't done it since, but admittedly, we're a little behind on our tummy time. He seems to be holding his head up better these days, but he's still a little wobbly. Tonight's tummy time went well, but we can tell it's still hard work for him. He also interacts with toys... especially ones he can kick with his feet. All in all, he's a great kid... and sometimes it's nice to hold a sweet sleepy baby instead of chasing a crazy toddler.
Speaking of, Ian is, well, crazy these days. He's just so ACTIVE, I feel like I can hardly keep up. He definitely requires more entertainment and supervision than he used to. I am sometimes at a loss on what to do with him and how to discipline him. (The diaper offers nice padding for any spankings.) I'm considering a time out method since he rarely wants to stop MOVING and resents any diversion from what he's set on doing. Maybe that will get to him.
My Ian report sounds so negative so far! I still love his little personality even though he is trying my patience. He constantly asks me two questions, "What are you doing, Mommy?" and "What is this?" Those a fine questions EXCEPT when he keeps asking them after I've already given him the answer. Boy, can't wait until he figures out the question, "Why?"
His language skills continue to grow and simply amaze me. Today he was messing with my computer, and I asked him if he was going to close it. He said, "No, I am not going to close it until my show is over." (He was watching Mickey online.) How's that for a two-year-old's sentence? Tonight he asked for the door to his room to stay open. John had cracked it at first, Ian says no, then he opens it a few feet, Ian says, "No! Open it all the way to the wall!" My, how that little brain works!
Ian LOVES being outside, and unfortunately it is SO DANG HOT these days. We attempted park play this morning, but we were all miserably hot. Thankfully, we found an indoor gymnastics center nearby with open play. I think we've found a niche for Mister Ian (who did not take well to reading time at the library or swim lessons). He LOVED jumping on the trampoline and hanging from the bars. Of course, he loves jumping in general, his favorite motor skill by far (and he's been doing it about a year now). The gymnastics instructors were actually impressed with his strength and coordination. They were surprised he was only 2 1/2. So, we may end up with a little athlete on our hands, who knows?
Ian has shown no interest in potty training. He's sat on a kiddie potty a few times, but he has even declared once, "I not sit on potty. I poop in a diaper!" I almost posted tonight about how crazy and overwhelming our lives seem right now... so with that being said, the topic/process of potty training has not really been approached lately. Quite frankly, I am NOT looking forward to it, but I guess it will have to be done soon. A lot of three-year-old classes (like at Mother's Day Out and even the gymnastics class) require the kids to be potty trained.
Well, that's a wrap for tonight. In case you were wondering where we have been, we bought a house, did some work on it, moved into it, went out of town, and now we're back again amongst our sea of boxes and growing to-do list. I wish I had pictures of the boys to post here, but it simply has not happened. Someday, we will find our new "normal" again. Someday we will finally feel settled!
