Merry Christmas!

This pic was in the queue for our Christmas card. I love Ian's expression! (Click photo to enlarge.)

This is a fun one, too.

Merry Christmas, y'all!

Not About Ian

I actually can't believe this is the fifth year that I've done the missions calendar for our church. It's one of my favorite projects because I usually get a clean slate on the design and/or theme plus I enjoy reading about the missionary families and seeing how their prayers have been answered through the years. (I also notice a trend with how they tend to pop out a kid every year, too.) Here are the designs since I started this project in 2006. I like this year's design because it's different. I wonder how much longer I'll have to privilege of doing this project? Hopefully as long as they need prayer!

I Just Don't Sew

I don't sew. I don't know if it's because I can't make a straight line while doing so or if I'm just not interested. However, I do have a fetish for fun fabrics. I recently bought the fabric below off etsy, and I'm at a loss for what to do with it (other than the obvious need to commission someone else to do the sewing). Ian is keeping his retro transportation theme for his "big boy room" whenever it makes its debut. So, I thought this fabric would be fun to add to the decor. Problem is, I only have four yards of it in two 2-yard pieces. It's a discontinued fabric and the etsy seller just had scraps left. Any thoughts?

The Past Week in Pictures

Last weekend, John and I went to two different Christmas parties, one for his work and the other for a church we have been visiting. Both were fun, awkward at times as we wandered around aimlessly because we didn't see anyone we knew, both had great food, both ended up with seeing/meeting people and having good conversations plus we got to dress up!

Also, last weekend the sickness hit. I had a cold the week before and gosh darnit, I must've been contagious because both of my boys caught it. Here is what sick looks like.

But later on during the week, it would seem that someone was starting to feel better! You can at least tell by his mouthful of crackers that he got his appetite back.

And then I got fed up with the toy situation in the living room and felt like it wasn't going to get any better with Christmas on the way, so I did some organizing. Here are the before and after shots.

Of course, I realize this isn't going to stay this way. And do you want to know how really anal I am? I planned for the pictures in this post to alternate between vertical and horizontal orientation. And I had to take one of the pics out of the previous post because it wasn't the same dimensions. Um, yeah.

So, anyhoo, that's a wrap for the past week. What's next? Well, lots of cookie baking and laundry for me tomorrow. John and I are headed to a San Antonio Spurs game tomorrow night, and then I get a little weekend gettaway for some girl time... so exciting and SO necessary after taking care of the sickies all week.
