Double Exposure

I posted about this on the baby blog, and I try to keep the posts different so that you don't feel like you're reading the same blog twice. This special occasion, however, deserves double exposure. My sweet husband, who has been known to buy me nice jewelry on occasion throughout our marriage, has done it again. He enjoys visiting our jeweler and brainstorming on custom work they can do. This time, he wanted something special to represent the upcoming birth of our son. Apparently, he couldn't wait until then to give it to me, so tonight was the night!

The stone is called lapis lazuli, a rich blue with gold flecks in it, truly one of a kind!

Custom handiwork on the back... representative of our son, who is also one of a kind!

John says he sure hopes we're having a boy. While I think the ultrasound was pretty clear, I'm sure there's always that fear... if BabyD comes out a girl, we may have to name her Ian, and she can wear lots of blue among her trains, planes, and automobiles in the baby room!

This brought tears to my eyes. Your husband is the true gem. The necklace is lovely. Congratulations!

Work this week has been stressful, and I thought to myself, I'm ready for Ian to come so I can take a break from prison and hold a baby for a while.... :)

What an amazing and personal gift. I didn't realize that custom jewelry was available to anyone short of a movie star - must look into this...

And needless to say, it's beautiful! I can't wait to see the necklace (and Ian) in person. :-)
